Albrechtsberg Castle

High above the River Elbe, set amidst a gorgeous park landscape, Albrechtsberg Castle is home to one of the most beautiful chamber music halls in Dresden.

It is also the home of the series of Meisterkonzerte, unique in Saxony and a “must” for connoisseurs and friends of sophisticated, high-carat chamber music. Since 1993, the magnificent Crown Hall has witnessed performances of world-famous soloists and leading ensembles, under the artistic directorship of Jan Vogler. Rising young talents also find a podium as part of this concert series.

The solo bass trombonist of the Berliner Philharmoniker is very passionate for chamber music. In this program, he explores Russian songs and works of late Romanticism complemented by texts, who are recited by Christian Brückner - the German voice actor of Robert de Niro, Robert Redford or Christopher Lee.

When the cello emancipated itself from the gamba, the great Baroque composers created wonderful music for this instrument. Daniel Müller-Schott and harpsichordist Irina Zahharenkova will present the greatest masterpieces of that era in the magnificent hall of Albrechtsberg Castle.

Eliot Quartet

In 2020, the award-winning Eliot Quartet will receive an instrument set by the Italian master Alessandro Ciciliati (Ferrera) from private hands, which could be imparted by the Moritzburg Festival to this young string quartet. We are very much looking forward to hearing them play on their new instruments for the first time.

Piano Recital: Boris Giltburg

Albrechtsberg Castle, Dresden

The Russian-Israeli pianist Boris Giltburg performs regularly in all major concert halls in the world. For many years, he has been a close friend of Jan Vogler and the Moritzburg Festival. It is thus a great pleasure to welcome him with a recital of his celebrated Rachmaninov interpretations in Albrechtsberg Castle.
